Equal to our passion for print is our commitment to the environment. By only offering FSC/recycled stocks and using soy-based inks, we guarantee that our products and printing methods are truly sustainable. Our proof is in the numbers: in 2010 our practices preserved over 1,400 trees.

While seeking out eco-friendly solutions, we’ve ensured that each piece of paper and drop of ink still meet our superior standards. This dedication to quality is seen not only in the final product, but also in the positive way in which we take care of our earth.

Take a closer look at the steps we take to ensure that we are environmentally responsible:

Paper Stock

Although FSC/Recycled paper may vary slightly in density and color when compared to virgin paper, it truly meets our superior standards. We recommend that you experience this quality for yourself by requesting a FREE sample.

Soy-based Inks

We print with soy-based inks because when compared to traditional petroleum inks, they have significantly lower levels of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds). These inks are easily removed from printed-paper, which simplifies the recycling process. In addition, the actual colors produced are brighter and more vivid than most other inks.

Water Based Aqueous (AQ) Coating

POSITIVEPRINT coats most of our prints with non-toxic water based AQ coating to not only quicken drying time, but to also allow the paper to be much more biodegradable.

Recycling of Waste Products

We recycle 100% of our paper, plastic and metal products used in the printing process.

Packaging

We package our products with biodegradable padding materials rather than those that are harmful to the environment.

Eco Definitions

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) - is a non-profit organization based in Bonn, Germany. The Council's stated mission is ‘to promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests’. It carries out this role by certifying sustainably managed forestry operations, and then tracking their timber through the supply chain to the end product, which has earned the FSC ecolabel. This label gives consumers the chance to identify and purchase sustainable timber products over unsustainably harvested alternatives.

FSC+Recycled - Follows the guideline of the FSC council as well as a high (over 50%) recycled fiber content, making it even more environmentally friendly.

VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) - Volatile organic compounds are compounds that have a high vapor pressure and low water solubility. Many VOCs are human-made chemicals that are used and produced in the manufacture of paints, pharmaceuticals and refrigerants. VOCs typically are industrial solvents, such as trichloroethylene; fuel oxygenates, such as methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE); or by-products produced by chlorination in water treatment, such as chloroform. VOCs are often components of petroleum fuels, hydraulic fluids, paint thinners, and dry cleaning agents. VOCs are common ground-water contaminants.
